INCHOATE
THOUGHTS
The present recedes into the past at alarming speed. “If you
think the last decade went quickly, just wait…” an
older colleague recently told me. Historical practice intersects with a
personal sense of duration. An individual’s historical practice has its own longue durée,
but also fast-moving epiphenomena of the mind. This section is dedicated to
some of my recent ideas, notions in formation, contributions to email
discussions with close friends in history, and philosophy (whose identities I
shall protect), regularly revised in the light of frequent embarrassment (mine).
